Like its name suggests, Around the World in 80 Days is about, you guessed it, traveling around the world! This match 3 game is based on the adventure novel written by the French writer Jules Verne, and it puts us in the shoes of Jean Passepartout, a valet for an English gentleman named Phileas Fogg.
In this game, Jean is tasked to accompany Mr. Fogg in circumnavigating the world within 80 days, while helping him with many errands on the way. These errands can be completed by solving either match 3 boards or other puzzles that can be challenging.

Strategic Match 3 Gameplay
Contrary to most match-three-colors games, you will have to bring quest items to the bottom of the level area in order to finish levels in this match 3 game. To do so, you will have to keep matching 3 and more tiles of the same type on the tiles below the quest item that you need to unlock.
Upon each successful match, the rows will collapse and the items will follow along. The tricky part is that, like most other match 3 games, the tiles can only be moved either vertically or horizontally. You will also have to keep an eye on the timer as it also counts the number of moves you have left!
There are also various bonuses, power ups, and of course, obstacles that makes the match 3 game more challenging to win. In Around the World in 80 Days, some tiles we spot may be chained together. You can only break these bonds by matching them with tiles of the same color – and such a match may take a longer time to achieve.
Should this happen, you will need to be aware of the number of lives and moves you have, so that you know how many tries you have per level. This is determined by the number visible near the heart icons on the left side of the user’s interface.
Despite the hints, level bonuses, and the several attempts we have at our disposal, you might still require additional help – and this is where special powers come to the rescue. Each special power has a unique purpose, and every activation creates an amazing cascade of special effects on the screen.
One of the abilities you can get is the “Hammer”, which can be used to break any tile you want. It is particularly useful when you are only a few tiles away from the bottom border of the level screen.
However, before you can use this ability, you have to power it up with points. How can you gather points then? By matching 4 and more tiles together! A strategy would be to simply power up the ability with more energy and save it for when you really need it.
